Foreign language anxiety in and outside the classroom: A case of a non-native speaking student living abroad

چکیده

Speaking in a foreign language, which is often perceived as intimidating by many language learners, has long been associated with anxiety (FLA), particularly speaking (FLSA). Although numerous studies have investigated FLA and FLSA, most focused on the classroom environment, whereas settings outside classroom, where learners use to communicate native speakers foreigners, relatively overlooked. environment can be significant source of anxiety, an authentic target could also trigger anxiety. This study aims address this gap investigating FLSA both non-classroom from perspective Turkish student living London. Unlike traditional questionnaire-based quantitative methods used previous research, employs qualitative method better understand these issues participant's lived experience settings. The interview data revealed that participant experienced higher degree peers having greater impact her than teachers classroom.
